A PAIR OF MEISSEN ALLEGORICAL FIGURE GROUPS, 'THE BROKEN BRIDGE' AND 'THE BROKEN EGGS'
LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, F.63 AND F.65, VARIOUS IMPRESSED AND PAINTED NUMERALS, AFTER THE MODELS BY M.V. ACIER
The first modelled with a gallant stooping to support his female companion, a broken bridge and an attendant putto scattering roses before them, the reverse with Cupid lending his own support; the second with a lady standing with her hands crossed at her breast and turning away from a seated older companion, an upturned basket of eggs at her feet and Cupid kneeling before them, the reverse with a putto hiding amongst the flounces of her skirt, each on a rocky mound above an oval stop-fluted base; together with a very similar Meissen (outside-decorated) figure group of 'Love Consoled'
