The gilt copper globular body rising from trumpet foot to a long everted neck with separate domed lid with pine-cone finial, the body with two applied lion-head roundels with loops suspended from their mouths, the gilt copper body decorated with polychrome enamels in a variety of floral and geometric motifs, the body with two roundels, one containing a coat of arms, the other with the initials FS beneath a crown, areas with slight loss of enamel

Lot Essay

This is a rare example of a late Ottoman enamelled gilt copper vessel that was specificallly made for a European patron, in this case a continental nobleman. It has unfortunately not been possible to identify the original arms.
