A KHORASSAN COPPER INLAID BRONZE BUCKET
NORTH EAST IRAN, 12/13TH CENTURY
Of spherical form with triangular section rim, two raised lugs linking the curved handle, on short spreading foot, the body engraved and inlaid with a central band of animal panels surrounded by interlaced strapwork, a band above of engraved scrolling vine and copper inlaid inscription broken by four copper-inlaid roundels containing birds, engraved band of inscriptions alternating with running animals below, panels of kufic inscription alternated with floral roundels around the lip, small repair, areas of surface accretions, some copper possibly re-inlay
7¼in. (18.5cm.) diam.
