Gouache on paper, each miniature colourfully drawn depicting either one of the Qajar and later Safavid Shahs, a King from the Shahnama, men at their professions or a ladies in various states of recline, work or embrace, each with identification inscription in a small lobed cartouche, some with slight damages around the edges, in Japanese presentation case

Lot Essay

Each of these small paintings is described in a small lobed cartouche on the page. A few examples of these inscriptions include: 'lady dancing whilst lying down', 'girl spinning', 'lady writing on paper', 'girl contemplating', 'youth selling nuts', 'candlemaker', 'dyer', 'Hajji Mulla Ja'far', 'Aga Mulla Muhammad Baqir', 'Shah Sultan Husayn' and 'Shah Sulayman'.
