The large drop-shaped panel set with a central large table-cut diamond, in a broad border of fine scrolling flowering vine with perching birds, surmounted by a bold floral spray with three diamonds set in cusped surrounds, the reverse covered with finely engraved flowering vine and perching birds, pendant pearl below and suspension loop above

Lot Essay

The shape of this pendant is very frequently encountered in jewels from Hyderabad. It is however the engraving in the gold on the back which confirms the attribution (Usha R. Bala Krishnan, Jewels of the Nizams, New Delhi, 2001, p.119).
