Of rosette form, the face with a large central cabochon ruby within a band of flat-cut diamond petals, the interstices filled with emeralds, in a band of further triangular ruby petals, the reverse with two ruby inset peacocks flaking a central gemset floral spray on a gold ground of fine engraved floral designs, in a band of diamond inset triangular panels, suspension loop above and pendant pearl below

Lot Essay

The inlay on the reverse of this double-sided pendant is similar to but later and simpler than the design on the face of a pendant in the al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait (Manuel Keene and Salam Kaoukji, Treasury of the World, London, 2001, no.5.6, p.59).
