"A classic of its kind. Two variable and premature cask samples. Every subsequent note mentioning tannin. But that is what the old Montrose used to be. I will jump straight to a perfect example, a bottle alongside the Cos, and bought at the same sale, at my Bordeaux Club dinner in 1998. Now medium deep, richly coloured, mature; a rather hard-to-get nose; dry, somewhat austere, massive, still tannic. It will come round, eventually." Last tasted Feb 1998 ***(**)! MB, Vintage Wine
