PROBABLY GERMAN, LATE 15TH CENTURY
Baluster-form, on spreading circular foot with chevron border, the applied midband with scalloped molding, the strap handle and neck with engraved ropetwist, the hinged cover with crenellated rim of stylized leaves, surmounted by a castle-form finial, apparently unmarked; together with a German parcel-gilt silver chalice on trumpet foot applied with a crucifix, the stem with stylized foliate knop between bands of punched decoration of animals amidst foliage, the bowl with gilt interior and rim, with traces of a mark on base
The chalice 6½ in. (16.5 cm.) high, the flagon 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) high; 7 oz. 10 dwt. (246 gr.) (2)
