An ivory okimono of a Bijin, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
the standing beauty with her hair pinned high with combs, a flower bud in her hair, carrying a woven basket of peaches and vine fruits, a closed parasol in the other, her kimono with long pendulous sleeves and wide tied obi decorated in relief with scattered peony and chrysanthemum, standing upon an oval base, green inlaid signature tablet signed Shundo -- 13 5/8in. (34.5cm.) high.
