A pair of inlaid bronze vases, signed Yoshimichi, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
incised and decorated in high relief in gilt, copper and coloured metals with an unmanned flower-cart, the large wheels partially covering the rotund woven basket filled with peony, lily, chrysanthemum and cherry blossoms, the reverse side with egrets wading and inflight amongst foaming waters and tall reeds, the border to the base with scattered insects including grasshoppers, beetles and wasps, the curving neck with flowering hibiscus and their spreading leafing branches, incised signature to base reading Dai Nippon Kyoto Yoshimichi zo -- 10 1/8in. (25.8cm.) high.
