The circular top inset with a shallow dish painted with a portait of Louis XIV, signed QUENTIN., surrounded by eighteen oval portrait plaques depicting court beauties, each inscribed on the reverse with the sitter's name, the base cast with putti and winged caryatids, on a shaped triform plinth
