Finely painted after Christian Seibold with a shoulder-length portrait of a courageous elder in cuirass, panther fur-lined cap and cloak

Lot Essay

Christian Seibold or Seybold, (Mainz 1690-1768 Vienna) - is noted as court painter at both the Imperial and Saxon courts. Originally working in the Baroque style, he became influenced by the realistic genre style of Balthazar Denner. Five portraits by this artist including the present example (Gal.
