A very fine and rare 18K pink gold water-resistant perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with phases of the moon, original certificate and box Signed Patek Philippe, Geneve, ref. 3970E, movement no. 876'824, case no. 2'953'524, manufactured in 1994 Cal. CH 27-70 Q nickel-finished lever movement stamped with the Geneva seal, 24 jewels, Gyromax balance, free sprung regulator, the silvered matte dial with applied pink gold baton numerals, pink gold feuille hands, two windows for day and month, three subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds combined with 12 hours register, 30 minutes register combined with leap year indicator, date combined with phases of the moon, in circular water-resistant-type case with screw back, downturned fluted lugs, two round chronograph buttons in the band, 18K pink gold Patek Philippe buckle, case, dial and movement signed 36 mm. diam.

Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificate or Origin dated September 1994, 18K pink gold glazed display screw back number 2'953'524, 18K pink gold and wooden setting pin, original fitted wooden presentation box and outer packaging. Furthermore delivered with the Extract from the Archives confirming production of this watch in 1994 and its subsequent sale on 18 July 1994. Purchased by the present owner in 1994, it has never been offered in public before.

The celebrated reference 3970 was in production from 1986 until 2004. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 305.
