Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1943 and its subsequent sale on 21 March 1944. It is believed to be one of 15 examples of this reference in pink gold to appear in public to date.

Manufacture of reference 1486 was launched in 1940 and made in yellow or pink gold only; the case was designed in the attempt to render it water-resistant by using the sliding sides.

The model, fitted with a cloisonné enamel dial, is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 151.
