Cartier. A very fine and rare 18K gold, rock crystal, enamel and diamond-set 8-day "borne" desk timepiece with strut
The present two lots, 375 and 376, are so-called "borne" desk timepieces, the French designation "borne" derived from the shape of the case, resembling a milestone or boundary marker. Similar examples, also with kingfish feather dials, are described and illustrated in The Cartier Collection - Timepieces, Editions Flammarion, p. 143 & p. 241.
