Lot Essay

The Makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1865; it is one of a very few built with the release-catch at the rear of the forepart; it is believed to be one of the last of this type built and one of the first in the centre fire form.

An earlier pinfire version sold in these salerooms in December 1998.
