Sir William Craven, of Winwick, Northamptonshire, was the eldest son of Sir Thomas Craven, of Appletree-wick, in Craven, North Yorkshire. He married Mary (d.c.1720), eldest daughter and co-heir of George Clerke, of Watford in Northamptonshire.
