Tasting Note: Massive and tough looking; "scented old boots" (!), rich, but some decay, with "swingeing acidity" in the early 1970s. Variable, to say the least, in the 1980s. A medicinal, caramelly, overripe bottle and a lovely looking magnum with sweet, beautiful, evolved, cedary Cabernat bouquet; good fruit surviving its vice-like grip. Sept 1988 *** M.B.
