Vorstermans is known for his views of English cities, castles and country houses, such as Gloucester, Windsor Castle and Althorp. However, he also painted small landscapes in the style of Herman Saftleven, whose monogram he even imitated. This unknown aspect of his oeuvre will be subject of a forthcoming article by Marijke de Kinkelder and Gregor J.M. Weber, in which the present lot shall be included.
