The rectangular box with overhanging cover decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and gold foil on a black ground with quail beneath chrysanthemum and hydrangea, the interior with two fitted trays, copper gilt water dropper and slate inkstone, fundame rims
