Painted in gilt on a blue ground with a large rectangular panel depicting two equestrian figures riding past a couple of sampans in the foreground and a two-tiered pavilion behind a wall, the reverse with the complete text of Teng wang ke xu by the scholar Wang Bo (649-675), the cylindrical neck with a continuous river landscape below the cup-shaped rim, some wear to the gilding
