Lot Essay

These small erotic calender prints were non-commercial productions, often used as gifts around the New Year. Each series of twelve was generally presented in a beautiful printed wrapper. In the designs, one finds hidden numerical indications for the long and short months for the year to come. For example, in the mirror stand one finds the specific configuration for the year 1826.
