Three pairs of Namban bowls and covers
Late 18th/19th Century
Comprising a pair of Arita bowls and covers painted in underglaze blue with three Dutchmen in a fenced Chinese style garden, one standing between a figure with a bird on his right hand, the other pulling a sling shot, 12.7 cm. diam.; a pair of bowls and covers enamelled in iron-red, blue, green and gilt with three panels of a Dutchman beside a dog, 12.6 cm. diam.; and two bowls and covers enamelled in a more vivid palette with a similar scene, the interior painted with different underglaze-blue decoration, 12 cm. diam.
