A large ivory netsuke
18th/19th century
Depicting a standing figure of a Gama Sennin, elegantly composed with a good facial expression, his emaciated ribs visible beneath his mugwort-leaf shawl around his shoulders, the left hand clutching a bamboo branch, with the right hand tickling a small tiger under the chin while resting on his shoulders, the himotoshi formed by a large and a small hole on the back, the surface with good patination
