An ivory and a walrus manju-netsuke
19th century
The first of rectangular shape with an ivory panel carved on both sides, one side depicting a wide landscape under a cloudy sky inlaid with a bat, a rider and a house under pine-trees in gilt marubori and shibuichi, the other side depicting a chicken-run inlaid with a cockerel and a hen with a chick in gilt marubori and shibuichi, set in a wooden frame, 5 cm long; the second a walrus ryusa-style manju-netsuke depicting several karashishi between clouds and peony, the karashishi inlaid in gilt marubori, 5 cm. diam.
