"As stunning as the Bâtard was, I quite frankly thought the Montrachet might be a disappointment but in fact, the Monty was more than up to the challenge. Fantastically rich, wondrously delineated white flower and spice aromas intermingle with driving, penetrating, remarkably intense flavors that stain and completely saturate the palate. This is exceptionally complex with so much sève and power that it's difficult to understand how such a wine can remain a model of refinement, harmony and elegance. There is length to burn and an hour later I was still muttering the word "wow!" to myself. This wine literally ruined my next appointment as there was just nothing the producer could serve, even with his two grands crus that could even begin to measure up to this. Flat out phenomenal juice and I would not be the least bit surprised if my score is one day be found to be overly conservative." BH, Oct 21, 2002
