8° (196 x 125mm). With the errata leaf. (Some spotting, occasional small marginal dampstain.) Late 18th-century half-calf, manuscript paper label on upper side, edges sprinkled red (spine, corners and hinges repaired). Provenance: Sergei Fedorovich (label on upper side).
FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST COLLECTION OF DECREES BY EMPRESS CATHERINE II. A VERY RARE UNCENSORED COPY complete with the account of Catherine's enthronement later censored by her son Paul I, who ordered all surviving copies be sent to the general procurator for removal of the offending pages. This copy is probably from a censor's office -- a contemporary manuscript label on the upper cover notes that it was taken from Sergei Fedorovich; an inscription in the margins of pages 14-23 indicates that the leaves are to be removed.
