FIRST EDITION OF THIS IMPORTANT WORK ON NOVIKOV'S INVOLVEMENT WITH THE MARTINISTS based on Longinov's previously unpublished work on Masonry. Longinov was a bibliographer and literary historian who later (1871-75) became Censor. Novikov's links with Masonry led to his eventual arrest and imprisonment in the Schlusselberg Fortress. Fekula 2616 (this copy).
