3 vols in one, 8° (234 x 135mm). With errata leaves, folding plate. (Very occasional, light, scattered spotting, remnants of the original wrapper in the gutter of the titlepage.) Contemporary green half-morocco, marbled boards, spine richly gilt in compartments, gilt arms on front cover, black rules, marbled endpapers (extremities rubbed). FIRST EDITION. From the library of the Barons Morenheim: Pavel Osipovich was envoy to Madrid and Constantinople and his son Artur to Copenhagen, Paris and London. The folding plate bears a flattering inscription to Peter the Great, repeated in a decorative pattern. Volume one describes the lives of the leaders of the Posol'skii prikaz, while the second and third volumes contain the biographies of chancellors and vice-chancellors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the 16th Century until 1834.
