VASNETSOV, Viktor -- Sokrashchenyi Molitvoslov. [Abridged Psalter]. N.p. (but St. Petersburg): M.O. Volf, n.d. (but c.1880s).
Small 2° (183 x 150mm). Chromolithographed title, frontispiece, and 21 plates, recto of text leaves printed within elaborate and varying chromolithographed borders, some of these with figurative scenes. Contemporary green morocco by Engel of Paris, sides and spine richly gilt with an all-over architectural design, gilt edges, gilt inner dentelles and printed endpapers (front hinge split, extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: Paul M. Fekula.
The Fekula copy of one of Mavrikiy Osipovich Volf's finest publications, with excellent Russian Revival chromolithographed plates and borders unsigned but probably by Viktor Vasnetsov, and in a richly gilt binding by Engel of Paris. Fekula 494 (this copy).
