FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST SURVEY OF AL'TMAN'S WORK. ONE OF 450 COPIES ONLY from an edition of 500, this one number 183. Among his many achievements Al'tman was responsible for the first sketches of the Soviet flag, postage stamps, seals and other state emblems, and he was one of very few artists permitted to paint Lenin from life. ABPC records no copy sold at auction in over 30 years; not in MoMA The Russian Avant-Garde Book.
