4 vols, including 1 atlas. 2° (316 x 240mm to 325 x 250mm). Errata. Maps, text vols with full-page plates, some chromolithographs, some with tissue-guards, vignettes throughout, atlas comprises twelve folders of plates, some chromolithographs, and a list of illustrations. Some half-titles. (Some mounted lithographs loosening, some plates from text vols found in the atlas - perhaps as issued.) Contemporary blue card wrappers with gilt spines and arms, one with card dust-jacket, atlas in clam-shell box with printed coloured title on upper side (some fading, extremities rubbed, heads and tails of spines slightly chipped, upper hinges of two vols starting). Provenance: E. Mollo collection (bookplate).
THE MOLLO COPY OF A RICHLY ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE HORSE GUARDS, with the atlas. The work is based in part on the writings of Georgii Nikolaevich, Duke of Leuchtenberg, who himself was a Colonel in the regiment. Evgenii Semenovich Mollo was a military historian and artist who published several works on Russian military badges. Lyons 274.
