FROM THE LIBRARY OF NICHOLAS II AT THE WINTER PALACE. Richly illustrated report on the results of the first years of P.A. Stolypin's land reforms, introduced in 1906 after the unrest of the previous year with the aim of turning the peasantry into a conservative land-holding class, which would naturally support the tsarist status quo. The introduction claims that by 1915 this policy was enjoying some success, with 1.5m peasant households having adopted the 'khutor' and 'otrubnyi' systems, but Stolypin's plan was abruptly interrupted by events two years later. Fekula 2205 (this copy).
