Contemporary presentation binding of pale-blue cloth with the original printed front cover bound-in, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, white moiré silk endpapers, top edge gilt (cloth lightly soiled). Provenance: Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna (inscription from the author; manuscript case label) -- 'Printed in Russia' (small stamp on endpaper) -- Paul M. Fekula.
FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED FROM THE AUTHOR TO HIS PUPIL GRAND DUCHESS MARIA NIKOLAEVNA. With the manuscript label of the classroom of the younger princesses in the music rooms of the Aleksandrov Palace. Petrov was the Imperial children's Russian tutor, but he was also charged with supervising all of their studies and various tutors. His inscription to Maria is dated 29 October 1909, pre-dating the printed publication date of 1910. Fekula 2771 (this copy).
