A SOUTH ITALIAN POLYCHROME-DECORATED AND PARCEL-GILT BUREAU-CABINET
SICILY, LATE 17TH CENTURY
The broken pediment centred by a pierced foliate cresting above a frieze decorated with scrolling foliage with an oval reserve, the panelled doors with moulded rectangular reserves with croisillon motif and further scrolling foliate ground surrounded by a trailing foliate border, flanked by panelled pilasters with foliate husks, the sides conformingly decorated, the lower section with canted angles and tapering pilasters with three long panelled drawers simulated as six, on shaped block feet
