Portrayed bust-length, rendered in the traditional manner, his facial features finely executed with dark colours, his chiton coloured in orange with dense golden brushstrokes, his figure emphasised by a gold outline, with a silver-gilt oklad adorned with repoussi foliate patterns, with cabochon semi-precious stones, the halo delineated with blue beads, each of the four spandrels with an evangelist reciting his Gospel
