In the centre of the composition, the Bishop Makarios, standing on a platform, raising the True Cross, in the presence of the emperor St. Constantine, his mother, Helena, clerics and a crowd of people, the buildings with red-tiled roofs behind referring to Jerusalem, against an exaggeratedly large circular construction, the colourful composition complimented by the use of gold
