A PAIR OF SPINACH GREEN AND WHITE JADE INLAID DRAGON SCREENS
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Carved in mirror image, each plaque inlaid in white jade on a spinach green jade ground of dense cloud scrolls with fierce five-clawed dragons, their writhing bodies emerging and disappearing amongst the swirling clouds, their faces with mouths agape and tongues protruding, all set within wood frames

Lot Essay
The technique of inlaying white jade onto a spinach jade ground appears to be very unusual. Examples of this style of decoration can be found on Imperial hardwood furniture from the Qianlong period.
