The auspicious imagery of the monkey and peach conveys a wish for longevity.
Compare a very similarly rendered spinach-green jade monkey and peach group from the Avery Brundage Collection illustrated by T. Bartholomew, Hidden Meanings in Chinese Art, Hong Kong, 2006, p. 198, no. 7.40.1. Compare also a smaller white jade monkey and peach group from the Hartman collection sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 November 2006, lot 1421 where the monkeys' facial features are very similar to those on the present example.
