Lot Essay

Compare a very similar narrow huan with the same arrangement of the 'comma' spirals from the G.L. Winthrope Collection, now in the Fogg Art Museum illustrated by M. Loehr, Ancient Chinese Jades, Cambridge, 1975, p.236, no. 351, the looser non-interlocking scroll design seemingly a late development in the evolution of this pattern.
