A carved Longquan celadon barbed rim stemcup, 14th/15th Century

freely incised to the interior wall of the bell-shaped cup with a band consisting of blossoming lotus issuing from leafy scrolls, the exterior with ribs above upright and pendent lappets divided by two raised bands at the top of the spreading foot, covered with a soft olive-green glaze 5.in. (12.7 cm.) high

A stemcup of similar bell-shape but moulded octagonally, is illustrated by Gyllensvard, Chinese Ceramics in the Carl Kempe Collection, 1964, no. 156.
