A celadon 'Longquan' barbed-rim dish, 15th century
with shallow rounded sides rising to the everted barbed rim, supported on a short slightly tapering foot, carved and moulded with a central quatrefoil enclosing a leafy lychee spray, the cavetto with a foliate lotus scroll below the rim with a wave pattern, with fluted undersides, covered with a sea-green glaze except for a wide band at the base burnt orange -- 11 1/8in. (28.2cm.) diam.
