A carved 'Longquan' celadon glazed 'tiger' vase, Ming dynasty (1368-1644)
of baluster form rising to the tall slightly waisted neck surmounted by a rounded rim, carved with a ferocious tiger on one side and a tree on the reverse, between plantain on the neck and stiff leaves above the foot, covered with a sea-green glaze stopping short of the rim and foot ring -- 9½in. (24.1cm.) high.
