A Cloisonne and gilt Qilin formed censer, Qianlong (1736-1795)
modelled standing, the head raised allowing its two long gilt horns to rest on its lower back, the face with bulging eyes and snout like nose, displaying sets of sharp teeth, the curling and flared mane spreading the length of its back towards the gilt metal, tear formed, incised tail, decorated in coloured enamels with a red and cream chest and overlapping blue scaled body, a hinged oval cover to the beasts back forming the opening for the hollow receptacle of the body -- 9in. (22.8cm.) wide.
