A Cloisonne enamelled tripod censer and cover, Qianlong mark and period (1736-1795)
the flaring bowl formed censer decorated in coloured enamels with scrolling lotus on a turquoise ground, raised on three elephant head supports, each with sharp tusks flanking their curling trunks, their harnesses inlaid in blue semi-precious stones, the twin handles similarly modelled as elephants with upturned trunk, the pierced gilt repousse cover with two tiers of scrolling foliate decoration surmounted by a recumbent caparisoned elephant finial, incised Qianlong six-character mark to rim -- 13½in. (34.3cm.) high.
