A pale celadon jade 'melon' waterpot and cover, late 18th Century
the tapering lobed sides rising to the sunken rim encompassing the lobed concave cover with a stem finial and a cricket, carved and pierced with a gnarled leafy vine bearing blossoms reaching over the sides and a butterfly resting on the fruit, the stone of pale celadon tone with russet and milky inclusions -- 3 15/16in. (10cm.) wide, wood stand.
