A Tibetan or Mongolian gilt copper and repousse model of Yama on a bull, 18th/19th Century
the buffalo headed deity stands in pratyalidhasana on the back of the bull, his arms outstretched holding a khartwanga in his right hand, the long curls of its orange hair streaming upwards behind the five skull headdress, and wearing a long scrolling celestial scarf, the bull sits partially recumbent, with twin horns and open mouthed expression, upon a prostrate figure of Ganesha who lies upon a rectangular lotus base, the dharmapala and bull covered in beaded jewellery inlaid with semi-precious turquoise and coral -- 19 1/8in. (48.5cm.) high.
