A Tibetan gilt bronze model of Maitreya, 18th century
seated in paryankasana on a rectangular base, with four beast-head supports, the figures feet supported by a lotus flower, his hands held in dharmachakra, the gesture of teaching, holding the stems of two lotus flowers that sit either side of the Buddha, the figure wearing ornate and inlaid headdress, beaded jewellery and roundel earrings, the dhoti with incised foliate decoration -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high.
