An 'egg and spinach' glazed biscuit Buddhistic lion joss stick holder, Kangxi (1662-1722)
the beast standing four square upon a pierced rectangular base, its head turned slightly to one side with bulging eyes and fierce open mouthed expression, a smiling figure in long brown robes seated on the beasts back, holding the yellow receptacle that forms the joss-stick holder, the biscuit base glazed in green, yellow, cream and aubergine -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high.
