A Chinese moulded green glazed vase and cover, 16th/17th century
of heavy baluster form rising to the short waisted neck and lipped rim, supported on a slightly spreading foot, surmounted by a domed cover with a pearl finial, the body moulded in relief with four Buddhist lions playing with ribboned brocade balls amidst incised cloud scrolls, between an incised lappet border with lotus sprays alternating with demi-flowerheads on the shoulder and petal panels above the foot, the neck with cloud scrolls, the cover with similar incised decoration, the design in ochre and aubergine reserved on a green glaze -- 17 9/16in. (44.5cm.) high.

From a Private English collection, purchased from Hugh Moss Ltd., London, before 16 March 1976.
